Keep Your Child Engaged and Active During the Holiday Break at the Y’s Day Camp

Register Your Child for Holiday Camp at the Y

When school is out, take advantage of the camps at the YMCA of Southern Nevada. The Y hosts one-day camps for the occasional teacher work day or holiday, as well as longer camps, which are ideal for extended breaks like the upcoming holiday break.

Y Camp is available for kids between 5 and 15 years of age. Sign your child up beforehand, or utilize the drop-in option as needed if your existing plans fall through. Just send your child with a healthy lunch, up to two snacks, a swim suit, and weather-appropriate outerwear. Check out a few of the ways kids will benefit from attending day camp at the Y. You can sign your child up for camp even if you don't have an active Y membership.

Benefits of the Y’s Holiday Break Camps

1. You'll Have Reliable Childcare When School Is Out

Your child’s days off of school don't always coincide with your time off of work. This can leave you scrambling to find affordable, trustworthy childcare for school holidays and breaks. Y Camp operates between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. each day to ensure parents have the care they need for their children. You're free to drop your child off later or pick your child up earlier if needed; this makes it easy to customize your child's camp time to your schedule.

2. Your Kids Can Explore Multiple Activities

Y Camp offers a wide variety of fantastic activities to keep campers entertained and help them break out of their comfort zones. Children will have the chance to try new activities that they may not typically participate in, at no additional cost to you. Some of these activities include:

  • Sports
  • Crafts
  • Games
  • STEM projects
  • Outside free play

A varied schedule keeps your child's mind and body active during their time away from school.

3. A Busy Day Minimizes the Opportunity for Boredom

When left to their own devices, kids may spend extended periods of time sleeping, watching TV or playing video games. By participating in constructive activities and interacting with other children, your child is less likely to get bored and exhibit destructive behaviors.

The Y curriculum encourages campers to embrace the organization’s core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Immersing your child in such a supportive, interactive environment helps them achieve personal, social and mental growth.
