When life gets busy, it can be hard to dedicate 30 minutes or more every day to your fitness goals. Skipping one day might not seem like a big deal, but even a small interruption in your routine can easily set you back. Once you have skipped a workout, skipping another (and another…) doesn’t seem like a big deal either.
Consistency is key when it comes to working out. Studies have shown that even a 10-minute workout session is beneficial. Here are some easy workouts to keep your exercise regimen consistent:
Circuit Training
Circuit training refers to a chain of exercises (usually 5 to 10) you complete in a circuit. You perform each exercise for a short period of time or a low number of reps before moving onto the next without stopping. These frequent changes target different parts of the body and help to keep the workout interesting. Typically, a circuit training routine will alternate cardio and strength training exercises. You can repeat the circuit a few times to get a great workout in a short amount of time.
Burpees
Burpees consist of only a few simple steps, but they are a fast and easy way to get a full-body workout. To begin, start by standing up and squatting. Place the palms of your hands on the ground and jump your feet back into plank position. While you’re here, do a push up.
After your push up, jump forward with your feet, landing close to your hands. Jump back up to standing, reaching your arms to the sky. Keep repeating the steps for as long as you can to really get your heart pumping.
Yoga
While yoga can be used to improve your flexibility, it also provides a great all-around workout. Many of the poses use your body’s weight to build strength. You can find lots of 10- to 15-minute practices to follow online.
Another great thing about yoga is that you don’t need a lot of space or equipment to start practicing it. A yoga mat is all you need, as it helps to keep you from slipping as you hold each pose. The mat also offers cushioning to support your joints.
Jumping Rope
Jumping rope is actually an excellent way to exercise in a short amount of time. In fact, many Olympic athletes incorporate this workout into their training and conditioning.
